UFC DC: Makhmud Muradov Says Floyd Mayweather’s ‘Money Team’ Are “a True Family”

There are plenty of folks who aren’t exactly the biggest boosters of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and his persona, but, it sounds like Makhmud Muradov is pretty happy being part of the star’s ‘Money Team’.

Muradov reports Mayweather congratulated him on first UFC win

If you follow boxing at all, you likely know that Mayweather Jr. also promotes boxers. But, you may not have known that Muradov is only part of ‘The Money Team’, as he is the only MMA fighter represented by Mayweather and his company.

The 29-year-old fighter made his way to the UFC in September, via UFC Copenhagen, and Muradov worked his way to a decision win over Alessio Di Chirico. Recently Muradov spoke with MMA Junkie, and while doing so, he reported the following about Mayweather Jr.:

“Four years ago we met on one occasion in Prague and since then, we are what we are, a family,” Muradov said. “He was one of the first ones I spoke to after the (Di Chirico) fight. We Face-timed, he congratulated me, he was happy about my first win. We are not just a management team, or something like that. We in ‘TMT’, we are a true family. Success of one, is success of everybody.”

Whether you support Mayweather or not, there’s no denying he’s been ridiculously successful. It will be interesting to see if other MMA fighter end up being part of ‘TMT’.

Muradov comments on upcoming bout with Trevor Smith

Muradov is scheduled for his second UFC fight next weekend, as he’ll take on Trevor Smith at the promotion’s December 7th card in Washington D.C.. While talking about Smith, and what the middleweight brings to the table, Muradov said this:

“My opponent is very skilled fighter, with more than 10 UFC fights,” Muradov said. “He has a good standup game and is an experienced wrestler. All my respect to him, but I am going to be better in everything. Whatever comes. Stand up, ground even in air if necessary.”

“Each audience is different, the Czech, the Russian, they know me well, because of my fights,” Muradov added, while discussing the fact he’ll face Smith in the latter’s home country. “American audience is something completely new, and I am excited to pull them on my side by my performance.”

“I have a huge fan base behind my back, I am used to such pressure,” Muradov added. “Everything I do, I do for them and because of them…”

Muradov (23-6) is riding a 12 fight winning streak heading into the contest. Smith (15-9), meanwhile, has lost back-to-back fights to Elias Theodorou and Zak Cummings.
