What Would You Do? peanut allergy prank

Peanuts can be as deadly as bullets to kids with allergies. Practical jokes and pranks involving peanuts aren’t a laughing matter, but they are something that can cause many American families to live in fear. ‘What Would You Do?’ decided to tackle this very scary and real topic.

Some children live with such severe allergies that exposure to just a dusting can be life-threatening. Many adults realize this, so when patrons at a restaurant noticed two teens planning to put peanuts in their allergic friend’s milkshake, things got heated quickly.

6 Million American Children Have Food Allergies

Almost 6 million American children have food allergies. As a mother of a child with a peanut allergy, I know the terror that surrounds my daughter just being exposed to a mere morsel of a peanut.

We carry epi-pens and Benadryl with us at all times for this very reason. To think that someone would intentionally spike someone’s food with peanuts as a prank is beyond mean. It is downright criminal.

What Would You Do? Peanut Prank

In a recent episode of “What Would You Do?,” viewers are taken to a scenario that many people with food allergies dear.

Three teen boys are having dessert at a restaurant. One has peanuts for his sundae. Another boy reminds them of his severe peanut allergy.

When someone who is allergic to peanuts is exposed to them, it can cause his airway to restrict, among other things. This can happen immediately and it can cause death.

But, when he got up from the table, his two “friends” concocted a plan to crush peanuts and add them to his milkshake.

Peanut Allergies Can Be Deadly

Thankfully these were just actors, but this does happen and it’s not funny. As cruel as the scenario is, this “What Would You Do?” episode is heartwarming because anyone with in earshot gave these boys a piece of their mind. Many of them accused them of trying to kill their friend. These folks were not about to allow this unsuspecting teen to drink a milkshake that could kill him.

This episode of “What Would You Do?” shows the reality that families of those 6 million American children with food allergies have to be concerned about on a daily basis. A peanut prank can be deadly. This is something that crosses our mind regularly.

As the mother of a child with a peanut allergy, I recognize accidents happen and we prepare for that, but to think that someone would try to kill my daughter with a peanut as a prank makes me want to burn it all down.

Thank God for good samaritans like the ones in the video .
