Last night on RAW, the 2019 King of the Ring was crowned. If you missed it, Baron Corbin defeated Chad Gable. So what’s in store for new King Corbin? Well, tonight is his coronation…and we’ve never seen a coronation go off the rails, have we? In addition to that, we should see more of Bayley and Sasha Banks having issues with Becky and Charlotte. Planning will be underway for not only the next PPV-Hell In A Cell-but also the first show on Fox. It’s hard to believe, but tonight is the next to last blue brand show on USA in it’s current run. No time for more nostalgia, let’s crack open this Nutshell!
I have to go with the opening bout here. Six man tag between New Day and The Revival with Randy Orton was a solid match.
Mind you, the best part of the evening followed right after the match, which was like an extra cherry on top of your ice cream sundae. If you are into that sort of dish.
I guess Ali was supposed to have a match with Shinsuke Nakamura? Maybe? Whatever it was, it just devolved into a beating for poor Ali
Tough call, but I am going to go with Brock Lesnar. Huge surprise, huge F-5, and now the move to Fox gains a huge selling point.
Not a single spot, but we shall go with Harper and Rowan and their rampage. The last five or so minutes was just those two brutes having their way with Bryan and Roman Reigns
Ali felt like he was doing a job.
Though, the real jobbers have to be the security guys who were destroyed at the end of the show. A couple even took bumps on the exposed cement floor!
We all knew Brock Lesnar was advertised for the October 4th SmackDown show, it’s debut on Fox.
We did not know he’d be on SmackDown tonight. He was, and now we know what he’s doing on the 4th-challenging Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship.
That debut show can’t get too much bigger, can it?
A coronation ceremony was ready-made to have something happen. I honestly expected it to be a new program, but WWE opted to continue Gable and Corbin for a bit longer.
Corbin invited Chad down, poked fun at his height and ended up having Gable put him through his throne. Gable then finished destroying all the new royal gear for good measure…so here’s thinking this feud isn’t quite over.
Honestly? Not much. If I had to gripe at all, the show was light on matches.
That said, the segments made up for that lack of matches.
Good six man.
Great main event for the SmackDown debut.
Kevin Owens is suing Shane McMahon for a whole lot of money, and I swear each week Owens is morphing into a rebooted Steve Austin (in a good way).
I was a bit shocked that WWE had Heyman outwardly acknowledge the Fox debut. I know the announcers have at times, but it felt funny having it mentioned in a promo. That said, Heyman’s promo was excellent, as was the Lesnar surprise. That debut blue brand show is basically must see television now.
