Reaction To Brock Lesnar’s Return + Is Jason Jordan Done Wrestling?

Backstage Reaction To Brock Lesnar’s Return On SmackDown

With SmackDown moving to Fox and NXT now airing the USA Network to help counter All Elite Wrestling, you knew WWE might try to pull off something epic. Brock Lesnar, who was not advertised, appeared on this week’s SmackDown to challenge Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship for the October 4 episode of SmackDown.

During PW Insider Elite, Mike Johnson mentioned how people backstage were shocked to see Lesnar and Paul Heyman. Both were kept hidden and they did appear until minutes before their segment was to air.

Lesnar has not wrestled a match on RAW or SmackDown since around 2004, so WWE will be making a big deal as he challenges Kingston. With WWE looking for a nice bump in ratings, we may very well see Kingston’s fairytale title reign end due to “The Beast.”

These two have met once before, during a live event that partially aired on the WWE Network. That was a few years ago and Lesnar got the easy win within a few minutes. While Kingston probably puts up a better battle this time around, I would bet SmackDown’s new era on Fox involves him being WWE Champion.

Jason Jordan’s In-Ring Future Looks Bleak

Jason Jordan was known in NXT for his tag team title run with Chad Gable as part of American Alpha. Then, he got a major storyline on the main roster as Kurt Angle’s illegitimate son. The angle was supposed to see Jordan get a victory over Angle at WrestleMania but that never happened.

In February 2018, Jordan underwent neck surgery with a timetable for a return being a few months to a year. It has been about 18 months and Jordan is yet to return to TV. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Joran competing again inside a WWE ring looks bleak.

Despite the surgery, Jordan was still having trouble with control in one of his hands and there was also an issue of making a fist. While away, WWE has transitioned Jordan into some backstage roles. Since Joran left TV, WWE has not mentioned him or the storyline involving Angle.

Joe Lisnow

The lineage of pro wrestling dates back centuries, tying the world together through the art of storytelling. After nearly 30 years of watching, now Joe has the chance to report the news about men and women competing inside a 20-foot by 20-foot ring.
