Authors of Pain

The Authors of Pain were one of the most exciting tag teams on the NXT roster. Their dominant appearance and their manager Paul Ellering made them into one of the most enigmatic tag teams in NXT history. Unfortunately, the main roster appeared to be slightly different and itf certainly took a while for the team to get another push. However, it seems like the company is giving the pair another push, which undoubtedly has something to do with Paul Heyman.

The Authors of Pain Get Promo Video On Monday Night Raw

The push for Akam and Rezar became apparent during this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, where a vignette was aired featuring the Authors of Pain. In it, they explained what they had been doing for the past couple of months.

During the promo, the Authors of Pain explained how others are complaining they are hurting them in the ring. They called themselves fighters and issued a warning to the WWE main roster.

Plagued By Injuries

Authors Of Pain

When they started on the main roster, the Authors of Pain were getting a serious push by Vince McMahon. Unfortunately, Akam suffered an injury shortly before they could really hit it off with the WWE Universe. Akam was out for for several months with a knee injury, which certainly put the tag team on the backburner.

Upon their return, the Authors of Pain returned with a brand-new manager. Instead of their former manager Paul Ellering, the WWE chose the little less imposing Drake Maverick. Unfortunately, the attention went more to Maverick instead of the Authors of Pain, which made their return fall into the proverbial water.

With the third return of the Authors of Pain and a serious vignette that is reminiscent of the original NXT tag team, I hope that they can finally restore their status on the main roster. The Authors of Pain have always been one of my favorite tag teams to watch in NXT. After all, the team is so imposing and threatening to watch. It it was difficult to find anyone who could compete with them. The main roster could certainly use another dominant tag team and the Authors of Pain certainly meet that description.

Possible Feuds For the Authors of Pain

Authors of Pain

There are plenty of potential feuds for the Authors of Pain on the main roster. Some of my top suggestions are Heavy Machinery, The Viking Raiders, and The New Day. Still, I think we will have to wait until the next draft to see which kind of rivalries we can expect. At the moment, the WWE is just familiarising main roster fans with the Authors of Pain.

I do have to mention that promos are one thing and matches are another. The best way to promote a tag team is through decent matches, so I hope that it does not solely stay with vignettes and promos. A prime example are The Viking Raiders, who have been pushed more with matches than vignettes. The crowd is taking to them a little better than AOP, so maybe this tactic must be applied with the Authors of Pain, too.
