Matthew McConaughey joins UT as college professor

Matthew McConaughey is a Christian, a husband, a dad, and an actor. Now he’s a college professor. The Oscar Award winner has joined the faculty in the Department of Radio-Television-Film at the University of Texas, Austin. As a UT alum with a degree in film, McConaughey is returning to roots as he heads back to a different side of the classroom.

UT Makes Matthew McConaughey A Professor

College campuses are well known for being hotbeds for liberal indoctrination.

Many parents worry about sending their children to college where liberal professors will then mold them into left-wing social justice warriors.

The University of Texas at Austin took a step away from this notion by hiring McConaughey.

On its website, UT shared the good news and applauded the actor’s impressive accomplishments in film.

In recognition of his outstanding work as a teacher and mentor to University of Texas students, and with respect to his career as an award-winning actor and producer, Matthew McConaughey has been appointed as a professor of practice at the Moody College of Communication starting in the fall 2019 term.

Now McConaughey will officially join UT’s Department of Radio-Television-Film as faculty after served as a visiting instructor since 2015.

The actor’s Script to Screen film production class provides a “unique, behind-the-scenes view of each stage of a film’s production”.

“It’s the class I wish I would have had when I was in film school. Working in the classroom with these students gives me a chance to prepare them,” McConaughey said about his new gig.

“Making movies, turning words on paper into film, is both a science and art — no matter the time or generation. The elements of truth and genuine joy for the process are timeless. That will always be our classroom focus.”

McConaughey is not afraid to swim upstream in Hollywood. He embraces his faith, is a gun owner and appreciates hunting, and he is in a strong Christian marriage.

If he can resist Hollywood liberals, he certainly will not be tainted by the ilk of the college variety.

McConaughey Doesn’t Bash Trump

The Academy Award-winning professor is also going to stand out among his peers as he doesn’t publicly bash President Trump.

After the historical 2016 election, McConaughey had a calm and rational approach as opposed to most of the Hollywood players. He said, “it’s time for us to embrace, shake hands with this fact and be constructive with him over the next four years.” Not too many actors have this brand of common sense anymore.

Speaking of the Academy Awards, when McConaughey won the award, he gave a motivational and inspiring speech that went viral.

He used his time on live national television to praise God and encourage others to do the same. That moving speech can be seen in the video below.

If my children attended UT Austin, I would be thrilled if they took McConaughey’s class.

The Texas native certainly isn’t going to be cramming politics down his students’ throats.
