Edge: "I Could Do A Match Tomorrow,"

Edge On Feeling Healthy To Wrestle In A WWE Match

Edge got the SummerSlam pre-show popping when he speared Elias. The big deal was Edge has not gotten physical inside a WWE ring since being forced into retirement in 2011 due to neck problems. As for a future inside the ring, Edge addressed those rumors on his podcast E&C Pod of Awesomeness.

“To be perfectly honest, I think I could do a match tomorrow,” said Edge. “And I might be blown up, but I’d be okay. It’s just from what I know with the WWE medical staff, they won’t allow it.”

It is doubtful WWE will ever allow Edge to wrestle again over concerns for his health and potential lawsuits down the road. Still, Edge hitting the sear in Toronto was one of the top moments from SummerSlam.

Reason WWE Signed Matt Riddle

WWE is known to send their newly signed talent down to the WWE Performance Center or one of the NXT brands. One of the biggest additions over the past year was Matt Riddle heading to NXT. A major hurdle he faced was even getting into the WWE due to the former UFC fighter failing several drug tests for marijuana. Eventually, that subsided and WWE signed him. During the Wrestling Observer Radio, they noted how WWE signed Middle partially because of New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) showing interest and certainly All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

“Matt’s one of those guys who should be on the main roster now and be a superstar,” said Meltzer. “I think everyone knew that he could blow up and you know it was like ‘If he’s not going to New Japan [Pro Wrestling]— and AEW didn’t exist at this point — then we don’t need to sign him.’ […] We’ll just have to see what happens to Matt’s career, but he’s definitely someone everybody talks about.”

Riddle started off with a decent undefeated streak and a major push in NXT. Although, he has run into some trouble lately and is having trouble getting big wins on the Takeover cards. He did not even wrestle at last week’s Takeover Toronto as he instead brawled around the ringside area with Killian Dain.
