UFC 240: Cris “Cyborg” Accuses Dana White of Bullying, Following Final Fight of UFC Deal

Cris “Cyborg” has ended her UFC contract on a winning note. But based off comments the former featherweight champ made afterward, one might be tempted to bet her run with the UFC’s over.

“Cyborg” took on former Invicta FC champ Felicia Spencer at UFC 240, and outstruck the very game fighter en route to a decision win. The bout marked the first time “Cyborg” had fought since she was taken out by Amanda Nunes in December.

Since “Cyborg’s” UFC deal is now done, not surprisingly, she was asked about her future while speaking with the media afterward. The 34-year-old had this to say about her relationship with White, which has been rocky, to put it mildly, after various junctures (quotes via MMA Junkie):

“We have a lot of issues, me and the UFC. Media and people don’t see a lot of things inside but we have a lot of things to work to continue to stay (in UFC) Everybody knows I don’t have the best and greatest relationship with UFC, I don’t have the best relationship with Dana White. He’s bullied me around, bullied me on the Internet and I’m suffering bullying everywhere because of this. I have a daughter, I have a father and I don’t think it’s nice and he’s never, ever said, ‘I’m sorry’ or told me anything about this. It’s going to continue, it’s not finished.

“Like to say I’m scared of Amanda Nunes, to say I don’t want to fight her, this is a liar. I text him after the fight saying I want the rematch. This don’t help grow my brand. It damages my brand and if I’m going to work for a promotion I don’t want someone to damage by brand. I want to work together and we’re going to have to take a little time and see.”

For a while, it seemed like “Cyborg’s” relationship with White was getting better (as he had publicly criticized her prior to her signing with the UFC). But, as she alluded to, more recently White’s been claiming “Cyborg” isn’t interested in rematching Nunes. While speaking to ESPN afterward, White opined that “Cyborg” is looking for “easier fights”, and that’s not going to sit well with her either.

So, it will be really interesting to see what happens here. White also said after UFC 240 that he wants to make Nunes – “Cyborg” 2 if the latter wants it. But, we all know that depends on how contract negotiations and what “Cyborg’s” management asks for in terms of compensation.
