UFC 239: Ben Askren Could be in Store For a Jorge Masvidal “Family Pack With a Two-Liter Soda”

Jorge Masvidal has made it very clear he doesn’t care for Ben Askren. Thus, this could be why “Gamebred’s” saying “Funky” could be in store for a “family pack” and a “two-liter” soda Saturday…

Now, if you haven’t followed Masvidal over the last few months, you may be wondering right now, what exactly you’re reading. Well, after Masvidal took out Darren Till at UFC London in March, the vet got into it with Leon Edwards backstage. Not long after, Masvidal reported he gave Edwards a “three piece with a soda”, and the catchphrase quickly blew up on the internet.

Masvidal was one hand at the open workouts for UFC 239, and he was asked about his plans for Askren. Not only that, but the dangerous fighter was, not surprisingly, asked if Askren’s also going to receive a “three piece”.

“We’re gonna do it painfully and brutally,” Masvidal said. “That’s for sure. I don’t like this dude as everybody here knows, so it’s gonna be brutal. It’s gonna be painful. I don’t know what round, but it’s gonna be painful.”

“I’m gonna give him options,” Masvidal reported. “We got all the way from the three-piece and the soda to the family pack with a two-liter soda, he can pick out what he wants.”

Now, you know, if Masvidal does put away Askren on Saturday, it won’t be long before social media is firing around “family pack” GIFs and memes. First things first, however, and that’s handing Askren something he’s never received in the cage and or ring: a loss.

If Masvidal can do that, and if he can do so in emphatic fashion, he might just get a title shot. Depending, of course, on how the Colby Covington – Robbie Lawler fight unfolds on August 3rd.

Here is the line-up for UFC 239, which will be hosted by the T-Mobile Arena in Vegas.
