Did AEW Make An Offer To CM Punk + Will He Be At Chicago's All Out?

-Until (or if) he ever signs, CM Punk will be perhaps the most talked about pro wrestling free agent on the planet. WWE fans have been chanting his name for years, ever since he departed the company.

Given the way he left WWE, however, the odds of a Punk/WWE reunion are slim to none.

However, considering there is a new wrestling promotion making waves, that does give fans something else to speculate about. Specifically, might CM Punk join All Elite Wrestling?

According to Punk, the company might have made him an offer, but if so, it seems it came via a text message from Cody Rhodes.

Punk spoke to ESPN, saying that he did get an offer but was not sure how to take it, considering who it came from and how.

The takeaway here is that, if AEW wants Punk, then CM Punk wants a more proper presentation and sales pitch. He also did not sound to be in too much of a rush to get back to professional wrestling, for that matter.

-Speaking of Punk and a return to the ring-with All Elite specifically…

Ever since AEW announced their end of summer show, All Out, and confirmed it would be coming to us from Chicago, the speculation has been rampant that Punk, a Chicago native, would be likely to appear there (if not there, then in time for the company’s TNT debut in October).

Per Punk’s conversation with ESPN, he understands that fans think, or even expect, for him to debut at All Out, but that those thoughts are entirely created by fans.

He reiterated that he’s been out of professional wrestling for five years, and has no intent to return. He went so far as to call an eventual return “unlikely”.

The interview is worth a read. While it could surely all be a work (and it wouldn’t be the first time), if you take Punk’s words at face value, the former WWE Champion does seem content to be effectively retired. He also seems to be less than blown away by AEW’s courting of him, and may even be growing tired of having himself mentioned constantly by some of AEW’s top stars/executives.

While there’s clearly no love lost between Punk and WWE, it’s looking like things between he and AEW aren’t as awesome as Tony Khan might like us to think.
