More On Heyman & Bischoff

– We learned a bit of shocking news yesterday as WWE announced that Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff are now the Executive Directors of RAW and SmackDown. Both will report to Vince McMahon as Heyman handles RAW and Bischoff works on SmackDown. During the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer commented how both will start their new roles immediately.

The announcement about Bischoff returning to WWE was said to have shocked many superstars. The deal was signed several weeks ago and WWE looked at his past relationship with TV companies before approving. Given how Bischoff is known to fans, there is a decent chance he could end up appearing again on WWE TV.

As for Heyman, he had been talking with WWE for some time about his role. Lately, Heyman had been working closely with some of WWE’s biggest backstage officials. The idea is for Heyman to remain on TV as he fills the role of Brock Lesnar’s advocate. Some have also suggested that Heyman might be able to coax Ronda Rousey to return sooner rather than later.

WWE has struggled to garner strong ratings and Fox was reportedly looking for an increase before SmackDown joins their network in October.

– Former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal revealed on Instagram that he underwent knee surgery at Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, Alabama. The injury occurred on June 15 during WWEs live event from Colorado in a losing effort to Ali. There is no timeframe for when Mahal will return to action, but he seemed optimistic in his social media post.

Since dropping the WWE Championship, Mahal was never able to get back towards the top. He has not been heavily featured on TV and his lsat major appearance was working the 50 person battle royal during Super ShowDown.
