Huge news in the land of the WWE today, as the company has appointed Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff as Executive Directors (ED). Heyman is slated as the ED for Monday Night RAW, while Bischoff has been named the ED of SmackDown LIVE. This huge move allows the company to create a foundation around two “distinctive creative processes” for each of their main roster shows.

Both men will be reporting directly to Vince McMahon, WWE’s Chairman, in these new full-time executive positions; so it is clear that VKM will still have the final say when it comes to creative direction. As per Sports Illustrated, there are no plans currently to introduce them into WWE television storylines within these ED roles.
Having said that, according to a PW Insider report, Heyman will still be Brock Lesnar’s Advocate moving forward, so he won’t be losing this on-screen role as a part of his new backstage duties.

Meanwhile, the SI report indicates that Eric Bischoff will be working closely with executives at Fox, as plans for the Blue brand to debut on that network are approaching come October of this year.

Interestingly enough, according to Fightful Select, everyone backstage is quite surprised by the new Executive Direction positions. As per the report, superstars and other employees hadn’t heard it was coming down the pipe, and some were even shocked that HHH wasn’t given one of the two positions as well; however, it seems that this was simply chitter chatter about the news, and nothing was further added. While Triple H is the WWE’s Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events & Creative, he also happens to be the one who runs things for the company’s developmental brand, NXT.
