All Elite Wrestling (AEW) held their second show, Fyter Fest, which felt like it carried the success from Double Or Nothing. The promotion is still building and some storylines continued at Saturday’s show.
The biggest story coming from the show is Cody Rhodes taking an unprotected chair shot to the head. After Cody and Darby Allin wrestled to a time limit draw, Shawn Spears came to the ring and drilled Cody with a chair. After the show, AEW President Tony Khan said the chair was gimmicked, but something went wrong. Cody would end up requiring 12 staples and was also checked by a doctor, who said no concussion occurred. Cody is scheduled to return at AEW’s Fight For The Fallen on July 13 as he teams with Dustin Rhodes against The Young Bucks.
In the main event, Jon Moxley made his in-ring debut by defeating Joey Janela in a non-sanctioned bout. The match saw tables, ladders, chairs, barbed wire and thumbtacks used. There was some blood spilled and Janela connected with a huge elbow drop off the top of a ladder to the outside as he crashed into Moxley and some tables. After the match, Kenny Omega got retribution on Moxley for Double Or Nothing by attacking him.
