WWE Backstage

The viewership ratings of the WWE appears to be not the only place where the WWE is experiencing problems, as rumors indicate that the backstage moral at the WWE has never been lower. While the problems started with a selected amount of new people, the general low moral has allegedly spread to the rest of the roster.

WWE Backstage Suffers From “The Unhappy Middle”

While many wrestlers on the main roster are unhappy, the main core of wrestlers who are unhappy are in the mid-card; this according to Bryan Alvarez from Wrestling Observer Live. Alvarez obtained the information from one of his inside sources and is said to be reliable.

The WWE backstage area has been plagued by many people attempting to quit the promotion. In recent memory, we have allegedly Sasha Banks and The Revival. However, Alvarez claims that some of the unhappy superstars who want to quit have not made their intentions clear yet, but that this is likely to play out in months to come.

Of course, there have been some obvious cases of WWE backstage unhappiness, with some prolific wrestlers leaving the company after being left in catering for a considerable amount of time. The biggest names that have been released from the company include TJP, Hideo Itami, Tye Dillinger, and Dean Ambrose.

Contrary to some of the names on the list, Dean Ambrose actually belonged to the top card within the company. It is claimed Ambrose was tired of the poor storylines and character suggestions he received from the WWE and wanted to head to the indies to finally do what he wanted. Time will tell if this is the case. However, Dean Ambrose has already rebranded himself as his old alter ego.

So What Is Going Wrong And What Can Be Done?

I do not think this is a problem that can be solved in a couple of days, as this kind of attitude has been flowing around the WWE for several years now. While some attribute it all to entitlement, I don’t believe that is the only thing going on here.

There is a stark contrast between NXT and main roster WWE. NXT builds superstars to be these larger than life characters, only to be destroyed on the main roster by poor bookings and weird storylines that makes them look weak. There is no attempt into building the larger than life characters we used to get; for example, The Undertaker, The Rock, John Cena, Ric Flair, and even Hulk Hogan.

Of course, there are certain stars who managed to thrive in this environment and who do keep some of the fans watching. You could call it the WWE’s saving grace. Guys like The Usos, The New Day, AJ Styles, and Drew McIntyre are interesting to watch, but it won’t matter for much longer if the WWE do not get their priorities straight. Build your characters and model your feuds like the feuds happening in NXT. You might get a decent product and an increase in fans in return.
