WOW! Blind, Autistic AGT Contestant BLOWS Judges MINDS When He Starts Singing

The show “America’s Got Talent” has had their share of jaw-dropping performances over the years, but contestant Kodi Lee, who is blind and autistic, took the stage and brought the room to its feet following his stunning rendition of Donny Hathaway’s “A Song for You.”

Before Kodi’s performance, his mom, Tina, who accompanied the 22-year-old on-stage before navigating him to his seat at the piano, explained Kodi’s special connection to music and how it’s been his lifeline during difficult times.

“Kodi is blind and autistic,” Tina Lee explained. “We found out that he loved music really early on. He listened and his eyes just went huge, and he started singing, that’s when I was in tears.”

“I realized he’s an entertainer,” she continued. “Through music and performing, he was able to withstand living in this world because when you’re autistic, it’s really hard to do what everybody else does. It actually has saved his life playing music.”

Kodi Lee’s thrill being on stage and performing for a crowd was evident as he began to play the opening notes to his song of choice.

“What just happened there was extraordinary. I mean really extraordinary,” Simon Cowell said.

Notorious critic Simon Cowell’s surprise was written all over his face — as well as fellow judge Julianne Hough’s — when Kodi began singing in a clear voice reminiscent of Bruno Mars’, yet uniquely his own.

Newest judge, and “L.A.’s Finest” actress Gabriella Union, was truly moved by Kodi Lee’s performance and the special relationship he has with his mother.

“I’m a new judge this season and I’m also a new mom this year,” Union, 46, began, referring to her daughter who was born via surrogate last year. “It’s the toughest job I’ve ever had and the most rewarding job I’ve ever had. You just want to give your kids the moon, the stars and the rainbows.”

“Tonight, I’m going to give you something special,” Union said as she reached for the coveted “golden buzzer” that moves a contestant on to the finals, which are aired live from Hollywood.

Whether Kodi Lee’s talent gets him the ultimate prize, his first performance was a hit and his winning personality shows he is already living a beautiful life with his loving family.
