WrestleMania Could Have Double Main Event

When I first saw this is my personal newsfeed, my mind started spinning immediately. What is a double main event? How would that even work? Well, it is time to find out, as there is a rumour WrestleMania could have a double main event this year.

Men and Women in Double Main Event

If the rumour is correct, the WWE is not looking at a women’s main event solely. Initial rumours stated that the main event would consists of a match between Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch. With this new report, it could mean that the WWE Universal Championship match and the WWE Raw Women’s Championship match would both become the main event.

The reason for the speculation came after commentator Michael Cole referred to both potential matches as WrestleMania’s main event. While this could mean Vince has not decided which match will take centre stage, it could also mean we have a double main event this year.

According to Dave Meltzer from Wrestling Observer Radio, a combination of both could be the case. Of course, please take this with a grain of salt, since Meltzer has been wrong before.

“… they’re gonna call both of them main events. That doesn’t mean – I’m presuming the women’s match will be last, but – it’s Vince, so I also presume that decision won’t be made until the week of the show, because you know, that’s usually when they make those decisions. But it’s not, even though Becky said main event… that’s not a lock they’re going on last just yet.”

Is it Just Semantics?

There are always plenty of rumours on the road to WrestleMania, so this is not going to be the last. However, this one is a strange one. How is the WWE going to pull off a double main event if they go ahead with it.

In my humble opinion, there is no such thing as a double main event. The last event is the main event. Just because you dub the event before that the main event, it certainly does not make it a main event. So, how on earth would this work.

If I’m being brutally honest, I much rather have a main event with Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch than another Brock Lesnar match. Even though it is likely to be Seth who will take on Lesnar, I doubt even a top wrestler like Rollins can make this an interesting match.
