Dear WWE Creative,

I was surprised this past Monday Night RAW, when HHH announced four new members to the main roster: Ricochet, Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, and Aleister Black.

According to reports, I wasn’t the only one shocked by these debuts, as it seems plenty of RAW talent were taken aback, including January’s NXT called-up superstars, as they have yet to dive into any bonefide programs or storylines as of yet. No one knew these four were headed to RAW that night, no long-term plans were in place for them; it was as much of a surprise for us fans, as it was backstage.

In fact, Oh You Didn’t Know’s Brad Shepard reported on his show that the Red brand was a little chaotic this past Monday night, rewriting the script within mere hours of the show, which was described as a “fast-evolving” script; much like those Nitro/WCW shows back in the day. It was also stated by Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer that the script did have so many change because the entire show revolved around Seth Rollins, and as The Architect wasn’t cleared to compete that night, despite the idea that many thought he would be okay, things had to be changed up.

Enter: four top superstars from NXT. But, what now? Especially on the cusp of Wrestlemania 35?

I will say this: despite the lack luster crowd this week, Monday Night RAW was explosive. The WWE Universe learnt that D-Generation X, including Chyna, was finally going to take their rightful place in WWE’s Hall of Fame, and that was huge news. We saw a little bit of Seth Rollins and his Wrestlemania story unfold, some talk from new Women’s Tag Team Champions Bayley and Sasha (and learnt those title could and would be defended on all three brands, including NXT), a little Ronda Rousey and post-Elimination Chamber wrap up, and fans witnessed three incredible matches from these new call ups. And if there was a little shock value and awkwardness with the arrival of these four men, it was felt: during backstage promos, in-ring competition, and just “in the air”. Moreover, all four men created a powerful statement, with respective wins in all their incredible bouts.

As it seems, all four men were at this week’s NXT tapings, so has anything really changed? They may have simply been put there a few month earlier than expected (post-Wrestlemania) to help fill the Seth Rollins void. Having said that, the McMahon family promised new faces and challenges, and on this regard, they delivered this week.

I’m sure you do have main roster plans for Johnny Gargano, Tommaso Ciampa, Ricochet, and Aleister Black. Perhaps ideas for debuts that were meant some months from now, which were sped up a bit due to circumstance. As a fan, no one wants to see WWE talent wasted and “used” without a clear-cut long- or even short-term plans and strategies around their debuts, but at the end of the day, the main goal for all WWE superstars is to entertain, and Ricochet, Gargano, Ciampa, and Black did just that this week.

Signed,

Me.
