Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, is currently expecting her first child with Prince Harry. The baby is due in the spring, and though Meghan is starting to show, you won’t be hearing her grandmother-in-law Queen Elizabeth describe her as “pregnant” for one reason.

Yahoo News reported that the Queen absolutely despises the word “pregnant,” as she sees it as a vulgar word. The word bothers her so much that she has made saying it a violation of royal protocol since she can’t stand to hear anyone else use the word either!

Instead of using the dreaded “p-word,” the Queen prefers for pregnant women to be described as “in the family way.”

Coming from a working-class background in the United States, ditching the word “pregnant” is undoubtedly something that is difficult for Meghan to get used to. However, it is one of the many royal protocols that she must follow as a member of the British Royal Family. The Queen has a long list of pet peeves that include soup, babies at dinner, men in shorts, and clinking ice cubes. Just going to dinner with the Queen seems like a stressful event, as one has to remember a long list of things that might offend her!

Falling out between Prince William and Prince Harry

This comes after it was reported that Prince William and Prince Harry had a bit of a falling out last Christmas over the way Meghan was being treated. According to Elle Magazine, a source who is friends with both brothers said that Harry felt that William was not doing enough to welcome Meghan into the family last Christmas.

“Harry felt William wasn’t rolling out the red carpet for Meghan and told him so,” the source explained. “They had a bit of a fall out, which was only resolved when [their dad Prince] Charles stepped in and asked William to make an effort. That’s when the Cambridges invited the Sussexes to spend Christmas with them.”

Do Kate and Meghan get along?

Royal expert Katie Nicholl added that the problems are between Harry and William, rather than between their wives, Meghan and Kate Middleton.

“Kate and Meghan are very different people and they don’t have a lot in common but they have made an effort to get along,” another source told Nicholl. “Any issues are between the brothers.”

We can only hope that these family issues are resolved and that Meghan gives birth to a happy and healthy baby in the spring!
