Ever since Prince Harry married Meghan Markle in a lavish wedding ceremony back in May, it has seemed like the British royal family welcomed her with open arms. However, an insider has just revealed that there was some drama in the lead up to the wedding between Queen Elizabeth and her future granddaughter-in-law.
Daily Mail reported that the issue stemmed from the fact that Meghan had her “heart set” on wearing a tiara that had green emeralds in it despite the fact that she was told that she could not wear it because the jewels may have come from Russia. The Queen was reportedly not happy that Meghan was making a fuss about this, so she pulled her grandson Harry aside and said of his fiancé, “She gets what tiara she’s given by me.”
“The Queen also questioned why Meghan needed a veil for the wedding, given it was to be her second marriage,” the source said. “Meghan can be difficult.”
Prince Harry’s pre-wedding meltdown
This appears to have been a blip in what otherwise seems to be a very positive relationship between the Queen and Meghan. While they seem to be getting along well, this isn’t the only rumor of tension surrounding Harry’s wedding. In his new book “Charles At Seventy: Thoughts, Hopes And Dreams,” Robert Jobson wrote that Harry was “petulant and short-tempered” in the weeks before his wedding at Windsor Castle.
Jobson alleged that Harry went so far as to yell at staffers, telling them, “What Meghan wants, Meghan gets.” When the Queen heard about this, Jobson said she summoned Harry for a private audience and “put him firmly in his place.”
