Could Dean Ambrose’s Explanation Ruin Everything?

Slow and steady storytelling always wins the WWE program race, and the rivalry between Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins has been heating up at a perfect pace. While I will admit, I do want to get to the bones of it all, Dean Ambrose staying silent for weeks now regarding his heel turn has to be one of the best teases going on within Monday Night RAW programming right now.

In general a newly-turned heel will address their former buddy, and the WWE Universe, via a RAW promo to tell them exactly why they turned; however, we have yet to truly hear Dean Ambrose’s side of things. In fact, Ambrose continues to attack Rollins as his form of communication, the only way he truly knows how to express himself it seems.

In fact, I have to wonder if he ever will open up eventually, or if his silence will be the anchor of this feud. Ambrose and Rollins have locked up before as enemies shortly after The Architect shredded The Shield faction back in June 2014, and their program back then was just as fantastic as it is now. One could point to Ambrose and Rollins as two superstars who not have incredible chemistry when they team up in storylines, but also feud like none other, and follow in the footsteps of the great ones likes of HHH and Shawn Michaels, Sting and “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair, as well as Hulk Hogan and “The Macho Man” Randy Savage; men who were equally entertaining as friends, as they are when they are foes.

Therefore, as the WWE Universe awaits some sort of explanation as to why Ambrose turned on Seth in general (and why he chose to do it on that emotional October 22nd edition of Monday Night RAW when fellow Shield mate Roman Reigns relinquished his Universal Championship, due to leukemia); I wonder if we need an explanation at all, and, if we do get an explanation, will this weaken the tremendous story that is unravelling now.

Fans are well aware of the Lunatic Fringe persona; one that does things without rhyme or reason; one that has been compared to the likes of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin when Ambrose first broke out into singles action; one that even as a face, does things that puzzles the audience: it is what is so appealing about him.

So, what if we never get an explanation from Dean for his actions? What if he continues to use aggression and Dirty Deeds to carve this newly-found heel path?

Would a lame explanation like an ‘eye-for-an-eye’ (regarding Rollins’ 2014 turn) ruin the entire feud? Or that he (Dean) has been tired of the Shield for a while now and was looking for a break once Roman was out of the picture?

Perhaps the best explanation would be none, further enhancing Dean Ambrose’s no-nonsense approach to clearing the air through punches, DDTs, and overall physical aggression.

Perhaps the best way to move forward is to allow these men to relay their story in the squared circle, rather than on the mic, and let the sparks fly in the ring.
