Hollywood is overwhelmingly dominated by liberals, which is why it’s rare that any actor will speak out to praise Ronald Reagan as the amazing president that he was. That’s what made it so powerful when conservative star Dennis Quaid did just that this week!
Fox News reported that Quaid is preparing to portray Reagan in a biopic that is scheduled to begin shooting this fall, and he opened up about how much playing this president means to him.
“[I’m] really, really nervous,” Quaid confessed. “When I got offered the role about four months ago, I couldn’t give them an answer. I had a shiver of fear go up my spine. I don’t really feel that I look like Ronald Reagan. But usually, that shiver of fear is a sign to me that I should do something because it takes me out of my comfort zone.”
Though he was intimidated by the prospect of playing Reagan initially, Quaid decided to move forward and do it.
“I’m fascinated by Ronald Reagan,” Quaid explained. “And we do share a couple of traits. He had an optimistic, sunny disposition way of looking at life. And we’re both actors. He has an incredible life story. A story that I think most people really don’t know. They think they know the man, but they don’t.”
He went on to stress that people of all political affiliations will be able to enjoy the film.
“The movie is not political,” Quaid said. “The script is not political. Reagan was a Democrat who turned Republican. And that’s what I like about it. It’s just the story of the man who was Ronald Reagan.”
It’s so refreshing to see a Hollywood star finally publicly give Reagan the respect that he deserves! We cannot wait to see Quaid portray this amazing president in this biopic!
