5 Facts About Randy Orton!

Randy Orton is a WWE veteran with a lot of notches on his proverbial title belt. While we know loads about Randy Orton already, there are some facts you may not be aware of yet. After some serious research, we found the most exciting facts about Randy Orton, so be sure to read on!

1. He Used to Be a Wrestling Referee

Even though Randy Orton is wrestling royalty due to the success of his father, Bob Orton, his road to success was not as easy as many people believe. In fact, Orton had to do some jobs that related to wrestling; only he would not be the one wrestling.

At one point, Randy Orton was a wrestling referee. Yes, he may have had some help along the way getting to where he is today, but if Randy had no talent for the business, he could have stayed a referee (not that there is anything wrong with that of course).

2. He Is the Youngest WWE World Heavyweight Champion Ever!

Getting a WWE championship at a young age is certainly a sign you are doing well; this also happened to Orton. More even, Randy Orton is still the youngest WWE World Heavyweight Champion in history!

Randy Orton won his World Heavyweight Championship in 2005 when he was only 24. He beat Chris Benoit at Summerslam for the title, which was quite the major feat considering Benoit’s status in the company at the time.

3. He Used to Be in the Military

Even though a military background is not that unusual for young Americans, Randy’s military background went anything but smooth.

After Orton enlisted in the Marines Corps, he went AWOL twice; this after disobeying a direct order from a commanding officer. He would be discharged from the U.S. Army and would be convicted by the military court. As his punishment, Orton spent 38 days in a U.S. military prison.

4. He Does Not Have the Best Reputation Backstage

Stories regarding Orton have surfaced over the years, claiming it is best not to get on Orton’s wrong side. Former female wrestlers have spoken out about Orton’s attitude, but this attitude has also been visible in media interviews.

Several reporters have left an interview with Randy Orton terrified. One of the most memorable ones was an interview with a Mexican news anchor, who had problems keeping Orton under control. In the end, it stayed at verbal abuse, but still not conduct that is acceptable for the WWE champion. Fortunately, it seems he has calmed down a bit over the years… I think…

5. He Was Attacked by a Fan in 2013

Orton’s attitude towards fans can be seen as understandable after 2013. On July 30, 2013, Randy was doing a South Africa house show and was promptly attacked by a fan. The fan entered the ring and gave Orton a low blow.

The WWE took legal action against the fan who attacked Orton. He was convicted and ordered to pay a 500 rand fine or spend 30 days in jail. He got off light if you ask me, but there you go.
