Judge Skips 214 Days Of Work And Her Pay Raise Will Make You SICK

If you need proof that lawful taxpayers are being screwed by a delinquent and apathetic government, look no further than Rochester City Court Judge Leticia Astacio, known locally as the “drunk judge.”

Effective April 1, Astacio received a state taxpayer-funded pay raise of $11,000, bringing her salary to a whopping $187,200. But if that’s not maddening enough, Astacio received her raise after working just one out of 214 days.

According to local station 13 Wham News, “Astacio did report for work on Tuesday, February 27 for one day – and has not been back since.” Before her one day on the job in 2018, Astacio had not reported to work since August 31 the previous year.

By letter, Chief Administrative Judge Craig Doran ordered the judge back to the bench on February 26; Doran confirmed Monday that Astacio is still continuing to blow off work.

This is unacceptable. A private employer would not stand for Astacio’s behavior – she would have been fired months ago. But the local government in Rochester somehow saw fit to not only keep Astacio employed but to give her a massive taxpayer-funded raise. It’s quite literally an injustice.

Unsurprisingly, Astacio is completely unapologetic about her extravagant and completely undeserved pay raise. According to her, she had a “medical excuse” not to report to work and branded the local news coverage of her raise as “racist.”

Astacio also recorded no less than three Facebook Live videos in which she complained about her treatment and adamantly defended her raise. “There’s just no rules that really apply when it comes to me,” she had the gall to say.

No remorse whatsoever.

Astacio was convicted of a DWI in August 2016 and was later found guilty of violating her probation on at least two occasions. She was making $175,500 per year at the time. She’s currently being investigated by the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct, which could result in the stripping of her judicial duties.
