ARRESTED! ‘Gypsy Sisters’ Star Goes Down For Sick Crime!

A star of one of TLC’s most infamous reality shows has been busted for a rather peculiar crime. As reported by TMZ, “Gypsy Sisters” star Mellie Stanley was arrested and charged with felony criminal simulation for making counterfeit coupons.

Even crazier – this isn’t the first time Stanley’s been busted for this crime.

Stanley’s penchant for using fake coupons dates all the way back to 2014, when she and her sister were arrested for running a coupon scam at a North Carolina Target. But Stanley didn’t learn her lesson: she and her ex-husband, George Lee, were subsequently arrested for making fraudulent coupons in December 2017. According to an arrest citation, Stanley and Lee used fake coupons to purchase a whopping $18,000 in items from a Toys “R” Us in Lexington, Ky., and a Babies “R” Us in Hamburg, Ky. Investigators said Stanley committed the same scam at Toys “R” Us stores across several states, including Virginia and West Virginia.

Following the December arrest, Stanley managed to use her reality TV fame to crowdfund her $13,000 bail and was released from jail in early March. However, weeks later, she was arrested in Indiana for running yet another Toys “R” Us coupon scam in Tennessee:

Law enforcement sources tell us Stanley was arrested Monday night in Indiana based on warrants for her arrest out of Tennessee. She was wanted on seven counts of felony criminal simulation — basically, cop speak for creating fraudulent coupons, we’re told.

Sources say police in Clarksville, TN were alerted to a coupon scam Mellie was allegedly involved in back in November. We’re told she tried making a $2,412 purchase at a Toy “R” Us there, but fled suddenly. Sources tell us she had 7 coupons that were somehow made to seem redeemable for $300 each. The cashier was suspicious and called cops.

That makes at least five states that Stanley’s hit with her scam. Is it just a coincidence that Toys “R” Us is shuttering all of its U.S. stores?

TLC canceled Gypsy Sisters in 2015 after a string of felonies committed by the cast. Stanley’s currently being held on $350,000 bail.
