Don Rickles Vince Vaughn

Don Rickles provided us with laughs for decades. Just months before his death, the 90-year-old legend sat down with fellow comic and actor Vince Vaughn for a few more laughs in an episode of AARP’s “Dinner with Don” series.

Like Rickles, Vaughn is an entertainer who doesn’t quite fit the Hollywood mold. He thinks differently thank liberal Hollywood. Vaughn actually leans to the right, politically.

Rickles and Vaughn Chat About Performances

Rickles answered all of Vaughn’s questions. Mr. Warmth joked that his first performance was with Rabbi Schwartz and the Bible. He also said that he got his big break when they needed a substitute for foul-mouthed comedian Lenny Bruce, who had crossed a line and needed to be replaced.

Rickles said that he kicked off his career performing late night, including shows at midnight, 2 am, and 5 am. Amazingly, after the 5 am show, Rickles would water ski at Lake Mead! He would stay up all night performing and then head out to the lake for some fun!

Viva Las Vegas

Rickles reminisced about his time in Las Vegas with dear friend Frank Sinatra who helped make things happen for him and introduced him to a lot of people in the business.

The Chairman of the Board and Mr. Warmth had a friendship that stood the test of time.

He was also concerned that Vince Vaughn had a “cop look” and might be wearing a wire when they discussed legendary Clark County (Las Vegas) Cowboy Sheriff Ralph Lamb.
