SPOILER ALERT: Jack’s Cause Of Death Will Break The Hearts Of “This Is Us” Fans

“This Is Us” fans are used to dealing with some deep, emotional scenes in the episodes, but nothing can match learning about Jack’s death. We have been waiting to find out how Jack passed away and it appears that we now know at least part of the story.

In the recent episode, Jack is seen cleaning up in the kitchen late at night. He’s waiting for Kevin to come home, but Kevin isn’t coming home. Unbeknownst to Jack, Kevin had already informed Rebecca of this, but she never told Jack. Kevin had argued with his parents that night before leaving for his girlfriend’s. Jack put a note on Kevin’s door saying that he loved him, but Kevin owed them an apology.

Before leaving the kitchen, Jack turns off the crock pot, then heads into the family room to pet the dog before heading to bed. The kitchen later ends up in flames thanks to faulty electrical wiring from the crock pot and a dish towel sitting nearby.

The episode ended with scenes of Jack trying to save his family from the fire caused by the crockpot. The second part of the episode will air after the Super Bowl on February 4th.

There are still a lot of unanswered questions, but it’s easy to draw some possible conclusions. The fact that Jack didn’t know Kevin was home makes it easy to think that Jack died trying to rescue his son who wasn’t even there. Petting the dog also may have foreshadowed Jack running around the house trying to save the pooch from the fire that engulfed the home.

It’s rather poignant that viewers will find out how Jack died after this year’s Super Bowl. Jack loved the Super Bowl. A fan on Twitter pointed out some other conclusions she had made after watching this episode.
