Usain Bolt is one the fastest man in the world. The speedy Jamaican sprinter won the 100 meter dash in three consecutive Olympic Games. But even though he is a decorated athlete, he still has respect.
While being interviewed by a reporter from Television Espanola in 2012, the U.S. National Anthem began to play. He stopped the interview to be respectful towards the United States.
This is a rather bold and unexpected stand to take during an interview, but Bolt wanted to do the right thing. He’s known as one of the best athletes of all time, but he didn’t let his ego get in the way of being respectful.
Watch the video below. This is true respect in action!
You can really tell a lot about someone’s character by how respectful they are. Bolt wanted to give an American athlete his due for winning gold, so he silenced the reporter. Bravo!
Five years after Bolt’s public show of respect for the United States, President Trump acknowledged the world-renowned Jamaican athlete’s actions in a tweet.
This is an important reminder in a country where NFL players and other athletes take a knee during our National Anthem. Bolt isn’t even an American and he recognized that you act respectfully when the Anthem is being played. Bolt stopped an important interview to give proper respect to Americans and a victorious athlete.
This Jamaican superstar has no allegiance to the United States. He isn’t an American, but he has manners. The NFL players who keep kneeling during the National Anthem need to take note. Bolt got a tremendous amount of praise for these actions. This is praise they are not worthy of.
Patriotism and love of country is important. The United States is unlike any country on earth and we are fortunate to live here. These spoiled millionaire American athletes could learn a lesson about respect from this Jamaican track start!
If Usain Bolt impressed you, please share this! This should go viral!
