Kate Middleton isn’t your typically royal. The future Queen of England was a commoner prior to marrying Prince William in 2011. Much like Williams’ mother Diana, Kate does things her own way while respecting tradition.

But when Kate becomes Queen of England, she will smash through a royal glass ceiling by breaking tradition. According to Express, Kate will be the first Queen of England to have earned a college degree. The Duchess of Cambridge has a History of Arts degree from St. Andrews in Edinburgh.

Behind all the glitz and glamor of Buckingham Palace, there are not a lot of degrees hanging on the wall. While the Royals had access to education, going to college was not a priority, particularly with security concerns and duty calls. But, William and Kate are bringing about change.

William and Kate met at St. Andrews during their college years. Their long courtship started out when they were just freshmen during their first year of college. It developed over the years into the strong relationship they have now. The video below details the start of their relationship at St. Andrews.

Kate is used to being a royal trendsetter. She is also the oldest bride in the Royal Family’s history, marrying William when she was 29. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge certainly didn’t rush their relationship. Instead, they allowed it to developed over the years.

When Kate becomes Queen, there will be another change. Her name will be changed to Catherine. In addition to being the Duchess of Cambridge, she is also known as Countess of Strathearn in Scotland and Lady Carrickfergus in Northern Ireland.

Kate and William are already parents to Prince George and Princess Charlotte and Kensington Palace recently confirmed Kate is expected to deliver their third child in April.

Brits have a special place in their hearts for Kate. As a commoner, her down to earth yet elegant approach is very relatable. Her kindness and intellect speak volumes about her character. Much like Diana, that has won her a lot of favor from everyday people.
