Eric Church’s Song For Las Vegas Victims Will Bring You To Tears!

Eric Church performed at the Route 91 Harvest Festival before the mass shooting that killed at least 59 people and injured over 500. He was scheduled to perform at the Grand Ole Opry on Wednesday, just three days after so many were killed while enjoying country music. He wasn’t going to go to the concert as he was so heartbroken, but he found inspiration from the wife of one of his fallen fans.

He saw Heather Melton give an interview in her Eric Church t-shirt. Her husband Sonny was one of those who will never return home. Heather, who is an orthopedic surgeon, said they were in Las Vegas because her husband wanted to see his favorite performer, Eric Church. They also had tickets for Wednesday’s show with Church at the Grand Ole Opry. He took that as a sign that he needed to perform to honor his fans.

Church also wrote a song for the victims of the Las Vegas shooting and debuted it at the concert where the Meltons were supposed to be Wednesday night. “Why Not Me” can be seen below. It is a beautiful and incredibly touching tribute, raw with emotion.

The show must go on, especially with a song like that. Church’s emotions are incredibly clear in that goosebumps-inducing song. It was very fitting to be debuted at that very performance.

Share this story to honor those whose lives were stolen in Las Vegas on Sunday.
