Jay Z Colin Kaepernick

Jay-Z has reportedly turned down performing during halftime for the 2018 Super Bowl to show support of unemployed quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick is such a menace that he is causing problems for the NFL when he’s not even playing.

Kaepernick is playing the role of armchair quarterback after failing to be signed by an NFL team after his National Anthem protest. The former San Francisco 49er has proven to be a liability because fans find him disrespectful. His girlfriend also lashed out at an NFL owner, smearing him with claims of racism for not signing Kaepernick. He’s apparently more trouble than he is worth so no team has been willing to take the risk of signing him.

Now, Jay-Z is officially in Kaepernick’s corner. Last year, the rapper’s wife, Beyonce, delivered an anti-cop performance during the Super Bowl halftime show. Jay-Z’s would probably be just as offensive, so I’m not going to shed any tears over him not being there.

Jason Sole is the President of the Minneapolis NAACP, where the Super Bowl will be held. He applauded the rapper’s stance by saying, “I’m not surprised by that at all and I’m actually glad that people are using their platform in this way.”

Earlier this week, Jay-Z dedicated his song “The Story of O.J.” to Colin Kaepernick and late comic Dick Gregory. That dedication is in the tweeted video below.

The NFL is obviously still in search of a performer worthy of the halftime show and promises it will be a terrific performance. “No decisions have been made on the performer(s) and we are not going to speculate on particular artists,” Brian McCarthy, an NFL spokesperson said. “Along with Pepsi, we know that we will put on a spectacular show. When it is time to announce her name we will do it. Or his name. Or their names.”

Share this if you are glad Jay-Z isn’t performing at the Super Bowl!
