Pro Football Hall of Famer Jim Brown came out swinging against Colin Kaepernick’s National Anthem protest. Brown is a football legend so, this is a stinging rebuke.
“I’m going to give you the real deal: I’m an American,” Brown stated. “I don’t desecrate my flag and my national anthem. I’m not gonna do anything against the flag and national anthem. I’m going to work within those situations. But this is my country, and I’ll work out the problems, but I’ll do it in an intelligent manner.”
Brown also pointed out that Kaepernick needs to choose between being a football player and being an activist. Football isn’t just a sport, it’s a business. Owners have to make a profit and Kaepernick makes that nearly impossible when he offends so many fans with his protests.
“Colin has to make up his mind whether he’s truly an activist or he’s a football player,” Brown said. “Football is commercial. You have owners. You have fans. And you want to honor that if you’re making that kind of money…” Brown continued.
Brown’s comments, which come on the heels of a protest by NAACP activists demanding an NFL team sign Kaepernick, can be heard in the video below.
Brown’s timing is rather poignant. He is seen as a hero to Cleveland Browns fans. These fans are fuming after a large number of players took a knee for the National Anthem during a recent preseason game.
This is already causing a disruption for the Browns as people push back against the team. A local VFW is responding by refusing to play Browns games. These veterans will certainly applaud Jim Brown‘s recent comments about the National Anthem protests.

Colin Kaepernick is without a job. Actions have consequences. Those Cleveland Browns who protested should take heed of Jim Brown’s words about following the rules.
“You have to understand there’s intelligence that’s involved, OK? I can’t be two things at once that contradict each other. If I sign for money, then the people I sign with, they have rules and regulations,” Brown said.
Brown is a voice of reason. He also put a CNN reporter in her place over her hatred of President Trump.
