Hurricane Irma American flag

In the midst of chaos, you can often find some hope. While Florida prepares for a long cleanup after Hurricane Irma, a simple act from a first responder in Coral Springs is bringing a lot of smiles to the faces of patriotic Americans.

Joseph Schiavo, a SWAT medic working for the Coral Springs Fire Department, saw an American flag. He couldn’t allow the fallen flag to stay there so he rescued it and brought it to the Captain’s office.

This poignantly happened on September 11th. You can see the video of Schiavo recovering the flag below.

Schiavo said, “It would be a disgrace to let that lay on the ground.” I completely agree with him. Bravo!

During Hurricane Harvey, a Weather Channel meteorologist also rescued a flag. You can see that video by clicking here.

Share this if you would have picked up the American flag too!
