hurricane irma

Hurricane Irma is set to hit Florida in the next several days, and based on current models, it is one of the largest Atlantic Ocean storms in recorded history.

Residents in Florida are rushing to evacuate the area, with some experts suggesting that this mass exodus from Southern Florida could be one of the largest evacuations in United States history.

Under a worst-case scenario, forecasters believe that Hurricane Irma could have a “devastating” impact, taking direct aim at Florida.

As of this writing, the hurricane is a Category 4 storm, with sustained winds around 150 mph, down from 185 mph in previous days.

FEMA Administrator Brock Long issued a warning saying that Hurricane Irma “continues to be a threat that is going to devastate the United States in either Florida or some of the southeastern states.” Florida Governor Rick Scott also stressed that based on its current path, Irma is more deadly than Hurricane Andrew, which killed 65 people in August of 1992.

If you know anyone living in the path of Hurricane Irma, please tell them to evacuate immediately!
