shopping cart return

Society has become incredibly self-centered and store parking lots reveal just how far we have declined.

Many people are so focused on themselves that they leave their shopping cart wherever they feel like. This causes trouble for another shopper who has to deal with these abandoned carts possibly hitting their car. It also is incredibly inconsiderate towards the employees who are then tasked with putting the carts away for lazy people.

There isn’t an excuse for this unless you are handicapped and physically unable to return the cart yourself.

Blogger Craig Dacy argues that the world is divided into two sets of people: cart returners and cart deserters.

Dacy says cart returners are thoughtful of other people. “When you take the time to return your cart to its receptacle, you’re showing that you care about the employees of the grocery store. You acknowledge that if you don’t put the cart away, someone else will have to do it for you. Basically, it shows that you’re not a selfish person,” he wrote.

He also says the cart returners are disciplined. They will still return the cart even if their child is screaming. There is also a shopping cart receptacle located in the parking lot near your car, giving a person no excuse to abandon their cart.

“You’ve committed yourself to a moral standard that you won’t break. Discipline is an attractive quality in people. Employers look for it in their employees and people look for it in their potential mates. They want to know they can trust you to do the right thing no matter what the circumstances,” Dacy said.

What Would Jesus Do? As you can see in the video below, he would return the shopping cart!

Abandoning your cart highlights selfishness and irresponsibility. It shows someone who is entitled and thinks others should clean up after them. The shopping cart can teach us a lot about society and someone’s character!
