Barbara Mandrell

Dueling Banjos” is a favorite song for people who appreciate bluegrass. It’s something banjo players aspire to perfect. And Barbara Mandrell did just that!

Barbara Mandrell is a very talented musician. She wanted to play “Dueling Banjos” at a concert, but she was the only one with a banjo. So, her guitarist joined in much to the delight of the audience.

The back and forth between the banjo and the guitar actually sounds amazing.

Wow! That was terrific. I hope she let the guitarist ride with the band and not with the luggage! Barbara sure did enjoy that performance. You can tell she had a lot of fun.

There aren’t many country artists today who can hold a candle to Barbara Mandrell. She was an incredibly gifted musician.

She was the first performer to win the Country Music Association’s “Entertainer of the Year” award twice. She also won twice the CMA’s “Female Vocalist of the Year” in 1979 and 1981. She attained celebrity in another field, acting. She and her sisters hosted Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell Sisters in the early 1980s. The program had musical guests and some sketch comedy.

Barbara was so talented that she elicited a compliment from Patsy Cline. Cline told a friend that Mandrell was “out of this world” and “quite a show woman” when Mandrell was just 13-years-old. Patsy Cline was certainly right.

Barbara retired in 1997 after recording over 30 albums and winning over 75 major awards. She accomplished much and entertained millions during her 37-year long music career. Barbara might be retired now, but her music lives on.
