Letters to Santa can give you a window into a child’s life. The kids who take the time to write, often reveal their personalities and the circumstances of their lives when they ask the man in the big red suit for presents.
Johnny Carson read some of these letters on The Tonight Show. They start off funny. One child doesn’t seem to understand that his letter probably put him on the naughty list! But, towards the end of the segment, Johnny begins to read letters from kids in need.
The children without fathers or living in poverty didn’t ask for anything for themselves. Rather, they asked for things for their mothers or siblings. It’s sobering to hear children who don’t have much not ask for anything for themselves, while the kids who have plenty seemingly ask for everything.

Organizations like Toys for Tots do so much to help show these children some love at Christmas. But, there are plenty of kids still in need. It’s important to remember them during the holidays too and try to help make some dreams come true!
