If you like Bluegrass or Americana pop, you are going to love Jonny Mizzone, a young banjo player who heads up the Mizzone brothers, better known by their group name Sleepy Man.
Watch the video below and be amazed at these brothers’ musical skills on the banjo, fiddle and the guitar. WOW!
They sound better than most people who have been playing for 40 years! These brothers are going places.
Sleepy Man is comprised of the Mizzone brothers: Jonny (banjo), Robbie (fiddle and vocals), and Tommy (guitar and background vocals). They have performed on a handful of shows. Josh Thomas later joined to play bass with the brothers.
Sleepy Man got the attention of a lot of Americans when they performed “Flint Hill Special” on “The Late Show With David Letterman” in 2011. All three of them were under the age of 14! Jonny was just 9 at the time. Robbie was only 12 while Tommy was the old man at 13 years of age. They did an amazing job playing in front of millions of people.
It’s astounding that a 9-year-old can play the banjo so effortlessly. You can see that performance in the video below.
They are a bit older now and even more talented. In addition to bluegrass, the brothers now play worship venues.
Sleepy Man often updates fans on social media. They post concert announcements and fun, short videos in order to grow their fanbase. As young men and teens, they also have a lot of fun with their videos as you can see in the Instagram post below.
