A reboot of the popular 90s TV show “Walker, Texas Ranger” is in the works. But, the question is will Cordell Walker be played by Chuck Norris in the new series?
In a similar vein to recent reimaginings of “MacGyver” and “Magnum P.I.”, the new “Walker” series is a straight reboot. USA Today reports the reboot is simply called “Walker” and Chuck Norris won’t be reprising his most well-known character.

Who will play Walker in the reboot?
Instead, actor Jared Padalecki, who is known for playing Rory Gilmore’s boyfriend on “Gilmore Girls” and Sam Winchester on “Supernatural,” will play the title character.
Padalecki, 37, as Walker will pick up the mantle of the “man finding his way back to his family while investigating crime in the state’s most elite unit. Our broken widower and father of two returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years for a high profile case – only to discover that there’s even more work to be done at home.”
And Walker once again has a partner. However, this time it won’t be the character James Trivette, originally played by Clarence Gilyard Jr.
Remember the opening of the show? Take a look for old time’s sake:
CBS says, “In a nod to the original series, Walker and his new partner — one of the only women in Texas Rangers’ history — are the modern day heroes our world needs, following their own moral code to fight for what’s right, regardless of the rules.”
However, who is playing her is not yet known.
What does Chuck Norris think of the ‘Walker’ reboot?
So far, Chuck Norris hasn’t said publicly whether he supports the new venture by CBS or not. However, it’s more likely than not that Norris has a stake in the reboot.
In February 2018, Norris, through his company Top Kick Productions, sued CBS and Sony Pictures.
In the suit, Norris said he always had a 23 percent claim to profits from the series. And he claimed CBS and Sony weren’t paying out profits from “video on demand” viewings of the show.
But it’s no wonder Norris and CBS may have mended their fences for the Walker reboot. In the same lawsuit, the revenues to that point for original airings and syndication were a whopping $692 million and counting.
Is there a possible Chuck Norris cameo?
Hopefully, that’s the case. Because it would be great to see the 79-year-old Norris make a cameo or two in the new series.

Of course, it will be interesting to see how a mere mortal like Jared Padalecki will do attempting to fill the role of the iconic Norris.
As we all know, when Chuck Norris works out, he doesn’t do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down. We wish Padalecki luck, but he’s no Chuck Norris.
