After just two seasons on Disney+, Goosebumps is not returning for a third. The horror anthology series is based on the best-selling R.L. Stine books, and will no longer be gracing our screens.

A Possible Future for Goosebumps

A source closer to the cancellation situation says the series producer, Sony Pictures Television, plans to shop the show out to other outlets and explore different creative directions for the IP.

Past Seasons Success

Over the two seasons, Goosebumps pulled in 75 million hours viewed in the United States, on top of 43 million hours viewed across 16 international markets.

The anthology debuted its first season on Disney+ in October 2023 with ten episodes released weekly. The second season premiered in January 2025, with eight episodes released at the same time.

What is Goosebumps About?

Each season of Goosebumps referenced the storylines from various Stine books. In season 1, a group of five high schoolers gets drawn into a mystery revolving around a teen named Harold Biddle who died decades earlier.

In season 2, a pair of fraternal twins move in with their recently divorced father, who discovers strange things happening around them and quickly becomes entangled in the tale of four teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994. Each season features a new story, setting, and cast.

Cast in Each Season

The cast of season 1 includes Justin Long (Mr. Bratt), Rachael Harris (Nora), Zack Morris (Isaiah), Isa Briones (Margot), Miles McKenna (James), Ana Yi Puig (Isabella), and Will Price (Lucas).

The season 2 cast includes David Schwimmer (Anthony), Ana Ortiz (Jen), Jayden Bartels (Cece), Sam McCarthy (Devin), Elijah M. Cooper (CJ), Francesca Noel (Alex), and Galilea La Salvia (Frankie).

Behind the Scenes

Nicholas Stoller (The Muppets) and Rob Letterman (Pokémon Detective Pikachu) developed and served as executive producers for the series. Hilary Winston (Community) was also an executive producer and showrunner.

Neal H. Moritz (Fast & Furious franchise) and Pavun Shetty (The Boys) for Original Film executive produced alongside Iole Lucchese (Clifford the Big Red Dog) and Caitlin Friedman (Stillwater) for Scholastic Entertainment. Sony Pictures Television Studios produced the series.

Popularity of Stine’s Books

Goosebumps is one of the best-selling book series of all time. Over 400 million English-language copies of the books are in print, plus international editions in 32 languages. There are over 200 Goosebumps books in total, from the main book series to various spinoffs and related book series.

If you want to watch more Goosebumps on the screen, an episodic anthology series was created in the 1990s, and two Goosebumps movies were released in 2015 and 2018.
