These shows feature in-depth characters, a driving plot line, and the urge to see more action in the following seasons. While some of these shows do continue on subsequent seasons, others either make it one season or a couple before being canceled, enraging fans. Check out these six more recent TV show cancellations, and how far they got before getting the axe.
6. Lockwood & Co. (2023)

Starting our list of TV show cancellations is Lockwood & Co. Based on the novels written by Jonathan Stroud, the show takes place in a different version of modern-day Britain where ghosts are killing the living. In the middle of it all is a small business called Lockwood & Co., who contain these dangerous foes. Full of action and creating a fascinating world for viewers, the show was #1 on Netflix for a while before getting canceled after its first season.

5. Fate: The Winx Saga (2021-2022)

Fifth on our list of TV show cancellations is Fate: The Winx Saga. Running for two seasons before being cancelled, the show was a live-action adaptation of the popular show Winx Club, where Bloom tries to adjust to her fairy magic at a magical boarding school. The second season ended on a major cliffhanger, and even though it ranked in Netflix’s Global Top 10 shows, the series was cancelled in 2022.

4. The Irrational (2023-2025)

Next on our list of TV show cancellations is The Irrational. Bundled with four other prominent shows, NBC handed out a series of cancellations in 2025, one of which was The Irrational. The show was a procedural focused on Law & Order alum Jesse L. Martin, who plays a university professor who uses human behavior to solve cases. The show was unfortunately cancelled after its second season.

3. Found (2023-2025)

Rounding out our top three TV show cancellations is another from the mega NBC cancellation, Found. The series was also cancelled after two seasons, and focused on a public relations specialist saving missing persons while also playing a cat-and-mouse game with her abductor. Fans immediately took to social media about the cancellation, angry that one of their favorite shows was suddenly over.

2. Julie and the Phantoms (2020)

Second on our list of TV show cancellations is Julie and the Phantoms. Julie is a teen struggling with the passing of her mom, losing touch with her musical side. That’s until she meets a band of teenage boy ghosts and starts a band with them. Critics praised the series for its catchy music and feel-good theme, but the network canceled it after its first season, leaving some loose threads. Fans protested the cancellation, even creating a petition to bring the show back.

1. Anne with an E (2017-2019)

Last but not least, on our list of TV show cancellations is Anne with an E. Set during the late 1890s, the story follows Anne Shirley, an orphan whom the authorities mistakenly send to live with the elderly Cuthbert siblings. The show ran for three seasons, and fans absolutely adored the characters. That is, until news of its cancellation rose after a major season three cliffhanger. Outraged, fans created petitions, hashtags, and even billboards to try and get the show back.
