It was just revealed that singer Taylor Swift’s father Scott Smith, who is known to be a conservative, fought off an intruder at his $4 million Florida penthouse last month. The intruder was just arrested and is now being held on bail.
Scott Swift Fights Off Burglar
According to Fox News, the “Shake It Off” singer’s father, Scott Swift, returned to a penthouse he owns in St. Petersburg at around 10pm on January 17 only to find that a burglar had broken in. The male intruder had managed to enter the home despite the fact that it is located in one of the Vinoy Place towers that is armed with heavy security.
The burglar has since been identified as 30 year-old Terrence Hoover, who snuck past security at the front gate and used an emergency stairwell to enter Swift’s apartment. Unfortunately for Hoover, however, he quickly learned he’d picked the wrong penthouse to break into.

Surveillance footage shows that Hoover entered the penthouse just minutes before Swift arrived home. Swift refused to back down to Hoover, and a “struggle” ensued before the burglar fled the scene.
Hoover was arrested last week, and he is currently being held on $50,000 bail. It is not known if he was aware at the time that he was breaking into the Swift residence.
Scott Swift Attacked By Taylor’s Fans For Being Conservative
This isn’t the first time that the Grammy award winner’s father has made headlines.
Though Taylor Swift is a vocal liberal, her father is a conservative. The 67-year-old father of two was forced to delete his Facebook page last August after past rightwing posts of were found by her left-leaning fans. The backlash from Taylor’s liberal fan base was harsh and swift when it was revealed that her father had posted various conservative memes. Including one of which read:
“The IRS has returned my tax return to me this year after I apparently answered one of the questions incorrectly… In response to the question, ‘Do you have anyone dependent on you?’ I wrote: ‘9.5 million illegal immigrants, 1.1 million crack heads, 3.4 million unemployable scroungers, 80,000 criminals in over 85 prisons plus 650 idiots in Washington’. The IRS stated the answer I gave was ‘unacceptable!'”

Another meme posted by Scott Swift featured a photo of Elizabeth Warren with the words “I no longer recognize this person as a Senator” plastered over it.
Taylor Swift’s Liberal Views
Scott Swift’s political views are in stark contrast to those of his famous daughter. Taylor spent years staying silent about her political views until 2018. When she finally “came out” as a radically left liberal. Of course, the “You Belong With Me” singer has been outspoken about her views ever since.

“We were in such an amazing time when Obama was president because foreign nations respected us. We were so excited to have this dignified person in the White House,” she said in her new Netflix documentary Miss Americana.
“My first election was voting for him when he made it into office, and then voting to re-elect him. I think a lot of people are like me, where they just didn’t really know that this could happen. But I’m just focused on the 2020 election. I’m really focused on it. I’m really focused on how I can help and not hinder. Because I also don’t want it to backfire again, because I do feel that the celebrity involvement with Hillary’s campaign was used against her in a lot of ways.”
It should come as no surprise that a proud conservative like Scott Swift would have the courage to defend his home against a burglar. Conservatives are typically not liberal snowflakes like Taylor Swift and her fans.
Instead, they are people who are tough as nails and will do whatever it takes to defend their families and homes.
