After nine years, Stranger Things is finally coming to a close this December. Announced in April, Stranger Things: Tales from ’85, an animated series that places Eleven and the gang between seasons 2 and 3, was confirmed. The series is said to premiere in 2026.

The logline reads: “Welcome back to Hawkins in the stark winter of 1985, where the original characters must fight new monsters and unravel a paranormal mystery terrorizing their town in Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, an epic new animated series.”

The show will also feature a new character, Nikki, who is described as tech-savvy and skeptical, and plays a key role in the group.

But that’s not all when it comes to Stranger Things spinoffs. The Duffer Brothers, Matt and Ross Duffer, have been trying to make a deal with Paramount in hopes of “both streaming and features with a big theatrical component.”

If this deal goes through, this could lead to the Duffer Brothers collaborating on their first feature film in over a decade, with their last one being a 2015 thriller, Hidden.

But what does this mean for Stranger Things? While a new show is on the way, a movie could help the Brothers expand their vision in a much larger canvas, offering the potential for more creativity and explanation in certain parts of the show.
