Fans of the beloved soap opera General Hospital just got some very good news as it was revealed that a Spencer family reunion is in the works!
General Hospital Reunion Is Happening
Genie Francis, who played the iconic Laura Spencer on General Hospital for decades, will be returning to the soap opera this week to reunite with her Lucky (Jonathan Jackson). This will be the first time that they’ve been onscreen together since 2015, if you can believe it!
The New York Post has confirmed that Francis has been shooting scenes for weeks. Her first episode is set to air on Wednesday, October 9. The reunion between Laura and Lucky will then play out for the rest of the week.
Francis, 62, has been playing Laura since 1977. Indeed, she’s appeared in over 1,700 episodes of General Hospital. Laura is a fan favorite who is best known for her romance with Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary). During their marriage, which ultimately ended in a divorce, Laura and Luke had a son named Lucky and a daughter named Lulu.

Jackson Teases General Hospital Return
Jackson, 42, debuted on General Hospital as Luke back in 1993. He initially left the show in 1999, but returned to the iconic soap opera in 2009 and 2015. Jackson teased what fans can expect from his comeback.
“In 2010 when I came back, he was a cop and he was trying to create an identity for himself, and in some ways in opposition to his father,” he explained of his character in August. “I don’t exactly know where he is now because we’re just kind of beginning but it just feels like he’s become a little bit more like his father as time has gone on.”
As for Francis, she initially left General Hospital back in 2002. At the time, her character suffered a psychotic breakdown and believed she murdered her adoptive dad. After appearing on the rival soap opera The Young and the Restless, Francis came back to General Hospital in 2013. She was then made a series regular again in 2018.
“I’m looking forward to coming home and I am really excited about this new invigorating storyline they have for Laura. I look forward to the next chapter of this prolific and historic character,” Francis told TV Insider afterwards.

Francis And Jackson Speak Out On Latest Reunion
Francis was quick to celebrate Jackson’s return after it was announced.
“Dear sweet Jonathan Jackson, this show is so lucky to have you back,” Francis said. “I am overjoyed! Can’t wait to work with you again.”
Jackson is just as excited to work with Francis again.
“Working with Genie was a big personal incentive to come back, because when I was there in 2010, 2011, Genie wasn’t on the show and I always kind of felt like I missed out on working with her as an adult, so I’m very excited about that, obviously,” Jackson told TV Insider.
General Hospital airs on ABC each day at 2pm EST. Be sure to tune in on Wednesday if you want to see this reunion!
