It has just been revealed that the iconic soap opera General Hospital has cast the former All My Children star Alexa Havins as Lulu Spencer, the daughter of Luke and Laura Spencer.

Havins Joins General Hospital

Havins, 43, previously played Babe Carey Chandler in All My Children from 2003 until 2007. TV Line has confirmed that she will be debuting on General Hospital later this fall.

Havins’ new character of Lulu is a young woman who has been in a coma since late 2020. (Boy, is she in for a rude awakening!) Fans began to speculate that Lulu would soon come out of the coma during a July episode. In it, her ex, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna), and her mother Laura (Genie Francis), visited her in the hospital. They then told the unconscious Lulu that she must wake up because her children need her.

Havins is set to replace Emme Rylan, who played Lulu from 2013 until 2020. Rylan revealed last month that the role had been recast. At the time, she took to her Instagram Story to say that while she was “very disappointed” to be replaced, she was “glad to finally have closure” about the role.

Prior to Rylan taking over the part, Lulu had been played by the two-time Daytime Emmy-winner Julie Marie Berman, who portrayed Lulu from 2005 until 2013.

Havins’ All My Children character of Babe was beloved during her four year run. She has also been married to her All My Children co-star Justin Bruening since 2005. They have three children together.

Havins’ History

Havins’ other credits include roles in Astronaut Wives Club, Grey’s Anatomy, Barry, Sweet Magnolias, and One Life to Live.

Born in New Mexico but raised in Chandler, Arizona, Havins got her start as a professional dancer. She eventually caught the acting bug and focused all of her energy on that. Havins later moved to New York City in the hopes of making her acting dreams come true. There, she was accepted into the prestigious Circle in the Square theatre school.

The rest, as they say, is history. Indeed, Havins has had a successful acting career for decades.

Aside from acting in soap operas, Havins is also a fan of them. When she was one asked which soap star she’d like to meet, she had an answer ready.

“The girl who plays Cricket on The Young and the Restless, Lauralee Bell, although I guess they call her Christine now,” she replied. “She was one of my favorites when I was growing up and one of my grandmother’s favorites, too.”

Havins’ Strong Moral Fiber

Unlike many Hollywood stars, Havins has a strong moral fiber. When asked what advice she’d give to young people getting into acting, she responded, “Always hold on to your morals and values because this business can be very deceiving.”

“I turned down a lot of things because there was nudity required,” she added.

It seems that Havins is a talented actress with a good head on her shoulders. While no exact premiere date for her has been set on General Hospital, we can’t wait to see what she brings to the role of Lulu!
