Since Steven Irwin’s unfortunate passing, fans have kept a close eye on Robert as he continues down the road of showing the world the beauty of nature. But fans have lost their mind over Robert Irwin’s DWTS performance as the conservationist strips out of his shirt during his routine.
Dancing With the Stars, just Carrie Ann Inaba, as well as many viewers, were left speechless after Robert Irwin ripped off his shirt in the middle of his performance on TikTok Night. During the third episode of DWTS season 34, which aired September 30, Irwin and his pro partner Witney Carson performed a salsa routine to Million Dollar Baby by Tommy Richman.
Following their performance, Irwin stood in front of judges Derek, Hough, Bruno Tonioli, and Inaba, shirtless, to which Inaba said, “Roberty Irwin is all grown up. You’re making me feel like a grandmother. I’m like, ‘Put a shirt on!'”
Irwin didn’t feel the same sentiment, as he said, “I was bummed that I had to put the shirt back on! That was a bit of fun, I liked that.”
While the dance was choreographed by Witney Carson, Iriwn admitted that it “kind of started with me. I was like, ‘It’s Million Dollar Baby, it’s an edgy song, it’s TikTok Night,’ and I wanted to show a different side to myself,” he continued.
“I knew that ‘cool guy Robert’ was in there somewhere, and I was like, ‘I want to unleash new energy’. And Witney was like, ‘Alright, let’s go for it,’ and we went for it!”
While the routine was definitely a memorable one for many, the pair did face some criticism, with Derek Hough slamming the routine as ‘rigid’. “You’re strong, assertive, a great performer – but I wasn’t fooled by them abs,” he said, which elicited boos from the audience.
Robert and Witney walked away with an overall score of 22, meaning that they slipped into third place in the competition. But despite falling off the pace, Robert Irwin’s DWTS performance has left viewers crazy. In fact, Irwin even admitted that he’s been getting so many DMs, which he isn’t mad about.
In fact, he’s open to DMs as he’s single and ready to mingle. Witney is even taking on wigman duties. “You have to go through kind of a screening process, so submit your applications through my DMs,” she said.
