Many of us can remember where we were when we learned of Steve Irwin’s sudden death in 2006. It was heartbreaking as so many of us felt connected with Steve because of his passion for animals, but also because he was the father of two young children who would have to grow up without him.

Crocodile Hunter’s Son

Robert Irwin wasn’t even three years old when his father Steve passed away. Now, the Crocodile Hunter’s son Robert is sixteen.

As the host of Robert’s Real Life Adventures, he has blossomed into a young man who would certainly make Steve proud. Robert has followed in his father’s footsteps at Australia Zoo. He looks very much like Steve also has his unbridled enthusiasm for animals.

The Irwins sent birthday wishes to Robert on social media. Mom Terri Irwin initially posted a very touching throwback picture of Steve holding Robert when he was just a newborn.

Sister Bindi Irwin shared a couple posts on Instagram. This tightly knit family supports each other and Bindi takes her role of older sister very seriously. While Robert is sixteen now, he will always be her baby brother.

“Happy 16th Birthday to the cutest ducky I’ve ever known! Robert, one of the best parts of my life is getting to be your sister. Thank you for being such a wonderful light in my life. You’re amazing and I love you! ?,” Bindi said in the Instagram post below.

Bindi wrote, in another post, “One of the sweetest photos ever taken❤️ My whole world. It’s incredible that Robert is sixteen now, time sure does fly. Also, Mum is the most beautiful woman in the world.”

Bindi’s fiancé Chandler Powell also wished Robert a sweet 16, but the biggest surprise was at Australia Zoo.
