Fans of the sitcom “Reba,” which ran from 2001 until 2007, are very excited right now after it was announced that stars Reba McEntire and Melissa Peterman will be reuniting for a new sitcom pilot on NBC.
McEntire And Peterman Reunite For NBC Pilot
Deadline reported that McEntire and Peterman are set to star alongside Blue Beetle star Belissa Escobedo in an as-yet-untitled NBC multi-camera pilot. “Reba” executive producers Kevin Abbott, Michael Hanel and Mindy Schultheis have also signed on for this project, which will be produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
McEntire will be playing Bobbie, “who inherits her father’s restaurant and is less than thrilled to discover that she has a new business partner in the half-sister she never knew she had.”
“Peterman will portray Gabby, a bartender who has worked at the tavern for quite some time,” Deadline continued. “She is a bit needy and dramatic and would have loved to be Bobbie’s sister.”
Escobedo has the role of Bobbie’s sister Isabella, a young woman described as “an enthusiastic 20-something, who has studied psychology and loves to analyze people. She is thrilled to start working at the tavern and is full of ‘great’ ideas about how to bring it to life.”
McEntire And Peterman Have Fought For ‘Reba’ Reboot For Years
McEntire and Peterman, who most recently worked together last year on the Lifetime original movie Reba McEntire’s The Hammer, have been trying to get a reboot of “Reba” greenlit for years.
“We’ve really been trying hard to do a reboot of the ‘Reba’ show,” McEntire said in 2022, according to People Magazine. “I really want to work with the people that I got to work with during that six and a half years.”
“It was fun, the cast the crew everybody we got to work with and play with, they were wonderful people,” she added. “We wanted to get back together like a reunion and have fun, so hopefully that will happen one day.”

McEntire Doesn’t Think ‘Reba’ Reboot Will Happen
Last year, however, McEntire revealed that a “Reba” reboot likely isn’t in the cards.
“We talked about that a lot,” McEntire told E! News of a potential reboot. “I don’t think that’s ever going to come to fruition, but maybe one of these days.”
McEntire went on to talk about how close she is to Peterman to this day, adding that they had a great time making The Hammer.
“She’s easy to break character and get me to laugh,” McEntire said of Peterman. “She’s always trying to break me and she does it a lot.”
“We love to act together, we love to hang out together,” she continued. “We rented a house and all of us we’re in the house together—my bunch and Melissa—and it was just the best. I had the most wonderful experience getting to shoot this movie.”

Peterman Gushes Over McEntire
Peterman publicly gushed over McEntire last year after it was revealed that the country music icon would be taking Blake Shelton’s place as a coach on “The Voice.”
“I think it’s going to be something really special,” Peterman told Entertainment Tonight. “She’s been around and done it all.”
“To be a woman that is continually evolving, and staying relevant, and selling out an arena tour, [earning] another Grammy nomination in 2018, I think she’s gonna bring so much knowledge and [a big] skill set,” she added. “She cares so much about artists. I’m excited. I’m excited for the people that chose her to be on her team. I think it’s going to be something really special.”
Peterman also revealed that she and McEntire are close friends who love getting together for game nights when they aren’t busy working.
“Reba and I play games all the time. She’s very competitive,” Peterman explained. “She actually said I was right on a rule change once and I was like, ‘What, say that again? I didn’t hear you.’ I made sure I got it on my phone, because I never hear, ‘You were right. Melissa, that was right.'”
While this isn’t specifically a “Reba” reboot, it will still be fun to see McEntire and Peterman acting together in a sitcom again. Hopefully their show makes it through the pilot process so that the countless fans who miss “Reba” will be able to enjoy it!
