Over the past few months, Prince Harry has made a series of damaging claims against the British royal family. This may be coming back to bite him, however, as he appears to have been caught contradicting himself, seemingly suggesting that he may have been lying all along or at the least he’s rewriting history.

Buzzfeed News reported that in various interviews of late, Harry has tried to portray the Royals as a heartless institution that didn’t care about the mental health of him and his wife Meghan Markle.

He’s attempted to make it look like he suffered in silence for years until Meghan came into his life in July of 2016 and encouraged him to get therapy.

“I wasn’t in an environment where I was encouraged to talk about it either,” Harry said in his mental health docuseries “The Me You Can’t See,” which he worked on with Oprah Winfrey. “That was sort of, like, squashed.”

Royals Were Focusing On Mental Health Before Meghan

However, anyone who does some digging into the past will see that Harry was working on mental health initiatives with his brother Prince William and sister-in-law Kate Middleton long before he met Meghan Markle.

In May of 2016, months before Harry and Meghan met, the trio launched the #HeadsTogether campaign, the goal of which was to “end stigma around mental health” and “change the national conversation on mental wellbeing.”

This appears to show that the Royal family was advocating for mental health before Meghan was even known to them.

“We do not want prejudice and fear to stand in the way of people getting the help they need to cope with life,” Harry said in a press conference at the time.

“The three of us — working with all [the charities] in this room and others who join us along the way — want to come up with practical ways of providing everyone who needs help with the right support and care.”

Kate has also been open about her own mental health struggles. She admits in the campaign that she suffers from “mom guilt” when her work keeps her away from her children. She says she was “lonely” and “quite isolated” as a new mother.

William is getting in on the action as well, saying that the British “stiff upper lip” mentality can be damaging to a person’s mental health. And, he encourages others to be open about their feelings.

Who Convinced Harry To Get Therapy?

Harry has claimed that it was his wife who encouraged him to undergo therapy, saying that he only started getting help after “a conversation that I had with my now-wife.”

He added that he started therapy “four years ago, only after meeting [Meghan].”

In a 2017 interview, however, Harry said it was William who actually convinced him that it was time to get help.

“It was only three years ago, funny enough, from the support around, and my brother and other people saying, ‘You really need to deal with this. It’s not normal to think that nothing has affected you,'” he said at the time.

“And for me personally, my brother, you know, bless him, he was a huge support to me. He kept saying, ‘This is not right, this is not normal, you need to talk to [someone] about stuff, it’s OK,’” he added.

Royal biographer Angela Levin, who spent a year with Harry for her book “Harry: Conversations With The Prince,” interviewed him about him seeking therapy. She asked him, “Are you going because Meghan suggested it, has she persuaded you?” And, Levin claims he said, “Absolutely not, she had nothing to do with it, it was William.”

So What Is The Truth Here, Harry?

Recently, Harry also contradicted himself when he said he hadn’t ridden a bicycle as a child. But, several images of him surfaced showing him doing jus that.

This makes it seem hardly believable that the Royal family would be as unsympathetic toward Harry and Meghan’s alleged mental health struggles as they have claimed.

The couple has gone all out to portray Meghan essentially as a mental health white knight who saved Harry from an uncaring family.

But the facts appear to be shattering this narrative completely.
