Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers took aim at California’s choking COVID-19 restrictions yesterday. He also scorched California Governor Gavin Newsom and other elite decision makers in the state who live by a different set of rules than the ones they order average Californians to obey.

Rodgers, who is a California native, was a guest on “The Pat McAfee Show.” He took some time skewer how his home state is handling the pandemic.

California Governor Newsom Violates His Own COVID Restrictions

“Don’t eat out a restaurant unless you’re wearing a mask and separate ‘oh, here’s a picture of the governor of California violating those rules,” Rodgers said on the YouTube show.

“Oh, public schools are closed but I can send my kids to a private school in person. It’s like, I mean, for us to count on the government to help us out is becoming a joke at this point.”

Aaron Rodgers was referencing pictures of Newsom at the upper crust French Laundry restaurant at the same time he was telling Californians to stay home and limit their activity.

Newsom added to his hypocrisy by not wearing a mask.

What’s more, this was in November when he was limiting the size of gatherings for Thanksgiving. The event Newsom attended exceeded his own gathering limit.

California Republican Party Tweets Aaron Rodgers Video

The California Republican Party took the opportunity to highlight and promote Rodgers’s criticism of the Democrat governor.

“We appreciate @AaronRodgers12 taking a stand for his home and recognizing that leaders like himself need to support Californians since hypocritical politicians like @GavinNewsom have failed to do so,” the California GOP said in the tweet below.

This isn’t the first time Aaron Rodgers has been highly critical of the government shutdowns.

In May, he asked why Americans were under “house arrest”.  Rodgers also questioned what freedoms we as Americans have left after so many state governments exerted so much control over citizens under the banner of public healt.
