If you’re a fan of historical dramas, then you’ve probably heard of Outlander. The series is based on Diana Gabaldon’s books and has seven seasons; however, the eighth will be the last. But an Outlander prequel series has been confirmed, and this is everything we know about it so far.

Even though Outlander is coming to a close, there will be more Highland drama for fans. Outlander: Blood of My Blood will be a prequel series for the beloved historical drama series, following the parents of Jamie and Claire and their respective love stories in both 18th-century Scotland and World War I-era England.

The current co-showrunner of the series, Matthew B. Roberts, expressed his passion for the prequel. “We’re thrilled to be telling the stories of these two couples,” Roberts said in a statement. “The origins of their relationships explore universal themes that transcend time periods, and we’re so excited for fans to discover and fall in love with these characters and their love stories the way they have with Claire and Jamie.”
Harriet Slater, known for her roles in Pennyworth and Tarot, will portray Jamie’s mother, Ellen Mackenzie. Jamie Roy, known for his roles in Flowers and Honey and Confor’s Nest, will play Jamie’s father, Brian Fraser.

As for Claire’s parents, Hermione Corfield, known for Rust Creek and Sea Fever, will play Julia Moriston, while Jeremy Irvine, from War Horse and Mama Mia! Here We Go Again, will play Henry Beauchamp.
The Outlander prequel series will be released on Friday, August 8, on STARZ, and the first season will have ten episodes.
The love between these parents will be full of tension and drama. Jamie Fraser tells the story of his parents, Brian and Ellen, saying that it was a forbidden marriage. But their headstrong love has the two eloping during the Great Gathering.
“We know the start of their story because Jamie told it in Outlander, but of course, there is a lot more to tell, as the first part of the story takes place during the 1715 Jacobite Rising,” Gabaldon told the audience of the Edinburgh International Book Festival in 2024. “The story is woven in with the Jacobite Rising – there will be a lot of clan politics and other interesting things.”
And of course, if you’re also interested in more of her books, she has a book in the works, yet it remains untitled.
